AhlulBayt News Agency - Sheikh Maher Hammoud, Secretary General of the International Union of Resistance Scholars, slammed efforts for tarnishing the image of Islam saying that these hostile moves prevents people from embracing the holy religion.
He said,” The main reason behind these hindrances is serious hostility dominating Islamic denominations and that each one of these schools of thought are claimants of representing Islam against the other one while this animosity paves the ground for worse movements including Takfiri terrorist groups.”
Sheikh Maher Hamoud referred to crimes committed by Takfiri groups and said,” No other movements, either worse or even similar to Takfiri groups, have appeared in history of Islam or human history.”
Lebanese cleric also denounced hypocrite behavior of some prominent figures in regards to Muslim world incidents and said,” Some take a neutral stance in regards to oppression imposed by extremist groups in Syria and Iraq under the name of Islam and do not make the least move against distortion of Islam.” adding,” Such people are silent against daily explosions in Iraq, Turkey and Egypt and only speak on the oppressions against Muslims.”
He noted, ”Such stances, even if just and right, will lead to support for extremism, terrorism, indiscriminate killings, dark thoughts and the like.”
Sheikh Maher Hamoud said that this view will accuse them of backing Takfiri terrorists and a company in tarnishing the image of Islam as well as taking a silent stance when it was necessary to defend the right.
